I have always wanted to write a book on Pet Peeves. In fact several years ago I did a little research to see what was out there in the way of similar printed books, not to my surprise there were plenty. So, the idea was shelved.
Every now and then the project resurfaces in my life. Usually its my Wife reminding me just as I finish rattling off “You know, thats probably my biggest pet peeve!”, or my sharing one of the more odd items with a friend or a co-worker for the first time. The reaction they normally have is pretty funny, because I’ll admit some of my pet peeves are pretty out there.
Like: When People clean their ears in public with their keys, I mean thats just plain nasty!

So the other evening during my daily commute home from work, after finishing off the work day with a peevd rant, I decided it was time to pull the project off the shelf. I was no longer fixated on writing a book, but decided I should just toss up a quick website. After all, thats what I do! At 9:00PM I told my wife what I had decided, her reply: “Well you dont have to build it tonight.” Does She have my number or what?!
By morning the site was live to the world and friends had began passing the link on via email.
The site is really nothing special, having spent only about 2hrs from domain registration, to closing the lid on my laptop in bed that night. Super simple layout, easy peevd entry, paging of all the entries, just the basics.
I haven’t decided if I should really spend much more time on this site/project. I got it out of my head and that was all I really wanted. It’ll be interesting to see some of the peevd entries flow in, and most importantly, if people are into the site.
To add accessibility and portability to peevd posts I create a twitter @peevd profile. Now you can vent and rant instantly by sending a reply tweet to @peevd! I think its cool!
Overall, I am still pleased with my ability to extract a simple idea/concept from my brain and place it online from start to finish in but a few hours. - Still awaiting the interweb gods to bless me that big break. For now, I just keep doing good and await the good to return.
